One of the unique aspects of the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory is our combination of resident and visiting scientific programs. MDIBL has a 111-year history of encouraging short and long-term scientific visits. We welcome individual scientists as well as scientific teams. Physician-scientists, basic research scientists, and all levels of students come to MDIBL to collaborate, conduct experiments, share ideas, and generate new knowledge. Visiting scientists include adjunct faculty who have come to MDIBL annually for many years and new investigators who receive research fellowships to carry out new experiments during their visits.
The visiting scientist program continues to play a vital role in MDIBL’s research efforts. MDIBL strives to recruit promising leaders in their respective research fields and to offer a location and resources for scientific teams to gather for intensive study of important problems in biology and medicine.
MDIBL staff work with all investigators to facilitate research efforts through easy access to animal models and technical resources. For more information, please contact Dr. Charles Wray.
