Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Associate
Applications are sought for a Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Associate to work on the functional genomics of sea urchin embryogenesis at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (MDIBL), an independent marine and biomedical research institution.
This position requires a Bachelors degree or higher in a science-related field. Postdoctoral candidates are encouraged to apply. The key qualifications for this position are a basic understanding of molecular biology, strong interest in regulatory genomics as well as cell and/or developmental biology, and motivation and ability to solve problems and work independently. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated skill/experience in one or more of the following areas: (1) Molecular biology, including standard DNA cloning techniques, polymerase chain reaction, and whole mount in situ hybridization; (2) Protein biochemistry, including SDS gel electrophoresis, immunoblot analysis, immunoprecipitation, preparation of nuclear extracts, column chromatography, and electrophoretic mobility shift analysis; and (3) Bioinformatics, computation, and statistical analysis. Research Assistant (Technician)
The Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (MDIBL), an independent marine and biomedical research institution, seeks a full-time Research Assistant. The successful candidate will participate in toxicology-related projects that seek to understand molecular responses to environmental chemicals. While training is available, skills and experience in more than one of the following technical areas is required: RT-PCR, qPCR, cDNA cloning, in situ hybridization, computational sequence analysis, BAC analysis and maintenance of a zebrafish colony (feeding, breeding, staging). The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in a science-related field (preferably molecular biology) and 1-2 years of post-baccalaureate laboratory experience.
