reMAINE Healthy Research Collaboration Featured on TV

For the first time, researchers and physicians from MDIBL, The Jackson Laboratory, Maine Medical Center (MMC), and the MMC Research Institute are working together on a major research project - identifying genetic markers for kidney disease. In the U.S. alone, chronic kidney disease affects 26 million people and costs $42 billion per year. Yet right now there is no way to diagnose the disease before serious kidney damage has already occurred.

Watch Kevin Strange, Director of MDIBL, and Ron Korstanje, Senior Research Scientist at Jackson Lab, discuss this important collaboration, known as "reMAINE Healthy," and the benefits of using multiple species to conduct biomedical research.
