II. Pets

The MDIBL community has generally been friendly to pets, however pet owners bear a special responsibility to ensure that their pets do not present a problem for the safety and comfort of our community, and the cleanliness of our campus. Some problems have arisen with regard to pets, including the need for extensive cleaning in residences where pets have been present. Therefore, pet owners are required to pay a non-refundable surcharge of $50 per pet. This surcharge does not cover damage caused by your pet. An assessment will be made following your tenancy and you will be billed for any damage to Laboratory property if necessary. If you are requesting MDIBL housing and wish to bring a pet to MDIBL, please fill out the form below and include it with your application. If you are awarded housing, the surcharge is to be mailed to the Lab along with a signed copy of your acceptance of your housing award. (Note: Pets are not permitted in the dormitories.)

Please also note:

Free-ranging pets are not allowed anywhere on MDIBL property. State law requires that dogs must be kept on a leash or other restraining line at all times.
Pet owners are expected to clean up after their animals. A limited number of plastic bags can be found in the mail shed.
