Smith Building Common Use Equipment
Common use equipment instructions are provided for investigators when they arrive at MDIBL. There is a usage fee for most of the equipment below; fees are indicated in MDIBL's Schedule of Fees.
Smith Basement
The bottom floor of the Homer Smith Building contains many pieces of common use equipment. This equipment includes:
- Analytical and Toploading balances
- Osmometers
- pH Meters
- Ice Maker
- Water Deionizer
- Evaporator Concentrator
- Flame Photometer
- Freezers
- Freeze Dryer
- Olympus Confocal, Leitz Fluovert FS, and Olympus IX70 Ratiometeric Fluorescence microscopes
- Research Ionalyzer
- Photomicroscopes
- Spectrofluorometer
- UV-Vis Spectrophotometer
Smith Tissue Culture Room (Core)
The Smith Buildign houses the Tissue Culture Core on the first floor. Equipment in the Tissue Culture Room includes:
- Laminar Flow Hoods
- Incubator
- Microscopes (Olympus CK-2, Zeiss IM35, Zeiss Axiovert 200)
Smith Top Floor (Molecular Biology Room)
The top floor of the Smith building also houses common use equipment, specifically the Molecular Biology Room. This includes:
- Cameras
- Gyrorotary Shaker
- Incubator
- Plate Reader
- Spectrophotometer
- PCR
