
The Electrophysiology Core provides equipment to perform electrophysiological assays on cells and tissues, and to utilize the Xenopus oocyte expression system for the purpose of conducting mechanistic studies of the molecular basis of membrane transport. The Core provides vibration-free tables, a two-microelectrode voltage clamp rig for oocyte recording, an Axon Geneclamp-500B amplifier, Digidata 1322A A/D D/A converter, pClamp 8 software, and Pentium 4 computer for data acquisition and analysis. A Sutter P-87 electrode puller and Narashige microforge for electrode and pipet fabrication are also available.
