Summary

The goals of this symposium are to provide a forum for a discussion of how arsenic and mercury affect public health, and to describe some of what is known about the cellular and molecular mechanism whereby these insidious toxicants affect public health.

Kinter Memorial Lecture

Bruce A. Stanton, Ph.D, Director, Dartmouth Lung Biology Center and Associate Director, Dartmouth Center for the Environmental Health Sciences will present the 25th Annual William B. Kinter Memorial Lecture.

Poster Session

A poster session will be displayed throughout the meeting. The deadline for poster abstracts is June 15. A poster guide and instructions are available here. Posters should be no more than 50" wide, and most poster boards are vertical.

Style

- Font size: 12, Type Style: Times, Spacing: single spaced copy using paragraph indents, Margins: 1".
- Double space between paragraphs and justify right margin.

Layout

- Title: The title of the abstract should be in UPPER CASE (CAPITAL letters, bolded).
- Abbreviations must not be used in title.
- Name(s)/institution(s): List the author's name(s), institution(s) where the work originated, city, state and country. Indicate the SURNAME of each author followed by his or her INITIALS only.


Please underline attending authors name. Double space after affiliations and before the body text.

- NOTE: Please do not draw illustration box on submitted abstracts. Your abstract will be reprinted exactly as submitted.

Deadlines

Poster abstracts must be submitted by June 15, 2007. Email abstracts or send a hard copy to: Michael McKernan, EHS Symposium c/o MDIBL, PO Box 35, Salisbury Cove, ME 04672; or, as an E-mail attachment (MS Word only) to: mmckernan@mdibl.org.

Please do not fax your abstract.


Accommodations and Travel

Rooms have been blocked at the following hotels. Please refer to the MDIBL EHS Symposium when making a reservation.

July is the height of tourist season on Mount Desert Island, so an early reservation is essential. Rooms not reserved will be released on June 11th. Reserve your room by June 1st or earlier. Undergraduate and graduate students may request housing on the MDIBL campus for a reduced rate. Limited availibility.

Free shuttle service to and from the hotels will be provided. However, car rental is recommended. Driving directions from Boston and Bangor to MDIBL are also available.
