The Mount Desert Island Stem Cell Symposium is a joint symposium
of the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory and The
Jackson Laboratory aimed at promoting the exchange of new
ideas in the field of stem cell research.
The 2008 symposium, Epigenetic Regulation of Stem Cells, will include research presentations on chromatin remodeling, DNA methylation, microRNAs, proteins, and other epigenetic factors that influence stem cell development, differentiation, and renewal.
All
interested scientists are welcome to preregister and attend.
Abstracts are invited. Funds are available to eligible trainees to cover registration, room and board. Travel funds are not available.

Call for Abstracts
The Mount Desert Island Stem Cell Symposium invites abstracts on epigenetic regulation of stem cells, and other related research areas. Abstracts may cover a range of topics within stem cell biology, including technology development, comparative genomics, transplantation, and genetics.
Submitted abstracts may be considered for a platform or poster presentation or to be included in the symposium abstract volume. Abstracts are welcomed from faculty, and all trainees including postdoctoral fellows and students.
The abstract formatting rules for platform/poster
presentation are listed below.
DEADLINE: July 25, 2008
Poster Session
The poster session is a highlight of the symposium. It is
a wonderful opportunity for one-on-one scientific interaction
and networking. All participants, even those giving platform
presentations, are encouraged to present their research in
the poster session. We expect a large crowd, lively conversation,
and refreshments.
Or, c ontact MDIBL conference
staff for accommodation suggestions.
Free shuttle service to and from the
hotels will be provided. However, car rental is recommended. Driving
directions from Boston and Bangor to MDIBL are also
available.
Detailed travel information, including a campus map, is available on the MDIBL
Travel page.
Funds are available to support registration, room, and board for students and trainees wishing
to attend the symposium. On campus dormitory housing is available. Please contact Michael
McKernan for more information.
