Summary

The Mount Desert Island Stem Cell Symposium is a joint symposium of the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory and The Jackson Laboratory aimed at promoting the exchange of new ideas in the field of stem cell research.

The 2007 symposium will include talks on:

  1. Current knowledge and recent discoveries in the molecular genetics of ES and adult stem cells.
  2. Recent research on stem cells in lung, breast, blood, and neural cancers.
  3. Developmental dynamics of organ systems in model organisms including mouse, fly, and fish.
  4. Recent research on stem cells in neuromuscular, renal, and cardiac disease; in addition to the role of stem cells in immune responses and transplant rejection.

All interested scientists are welcome to preregister and attend. Students are invited to attend at a reduced rate, and in addition, funds for travel and registration may be available.

Poster Session

The poster session is a highlight of the symposium. It is a wonderful opportunity for one-on-one scientific interaction and networking. All participants, even those giving platform presentations, are encouraged to present their research in the poster session. We expect a large crowd, lively conversation, and refreshments.

Interested poster presenters should sumbit an abstract. A poster guide and instructions are available here. Posters should be no more than 50" wide, and most poster boards are vertical.

The abstract formatting rules for platform/poster presentation are listed below.
