In addition to gifts that support day-to-day operations, donors may also designate their gifts to support a particular initiative such as building construction and renovation, disease specific research, or support of a student scholarship or fellowship.
Known as capital gifts, these gifts are typically given in the form of cash, securities or tangible property. Capital gifts of a certain magnitude may also be used for naming opportunities, named for the donor or in honor of another person.
Capital gifts help us address our highest priorities – recruitment of leading scientists, providing state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment, and in supporting students and faculty as they pursue novel research projects.
Whether a gift to help build the Laboratory’s endowment or to renovate a building, capital gifts provide MDIBL with the funding necessary to strengthen our research and educational programs.
